Walking Away
words & music by Ryan Hicks
I want to speak to the hurt
I want to speak to the pain
Why were you here and walking away
I want to speak to that pain
In my world that I have shattered once again
I hear you quite clearly
Just get over it
There is so much you can hide inside of the myst
Cold, thick, and heavy
I suffocate under it
How do you know when what you feel is real
And when does it cease to matter
If the ground is shaking
Sometimes I wander too far from myself
Reaching with no logic
Restless and raging
You say "who cares" from the bottom of your bottle
Split apart and haunted
Alone with your ghost
All you offer is a cold plate of pity
A frozen blanket of sorrow
I suffocate inside of it
What is hiding in my death-grip of anger
Pieces from another mirror
The sharpened edge of pointlessness
How do you let go when it's wrapped around your hands
Shallow, sour, and bitter
I choke in it
I am told this will not kill me
I am told this will thicken my skin
But what about the broken bones
And the ancient scares crying within
